OUCH!

My hand just got injured. OUCH! I fell down from a bike at 6pm. LOL. My hand and leg is now all in plasters and bandages. Finally the press/media said that the ACID RAIN from JAPAN hoax or rumor is A FAKE! Finally I can tell my mum is a fake and its not gonna happen in Malaysia. Phew, that was close.

This is the news report that happen on The Malay Mail

SUBANG: Do not listen to rumours circulated in text messages about acid rain hitting our shores.
That is the message from Energy, Green Technology and Water Minister Datuk Seri Peter Chin Fah Kui.
"The public should not listen to rumours about this acid rain because of Japan's Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plants radiation," he said after officiating at the 2nd Asia Pacific Regional Water Conference (APRWC) this morning.
Chin said there was no confirmation from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and government authorities on radiation spread or acid rain due to the Japanese nuclear plant crisis.
"There's no shred of evidence the radiation could spread to this region."
He also reiterated the misconception the government would proceed with building two nuclear plants.
"The matter is being finalised as we are still studying whether to build nuclear plants by 2021.
"The government always look into possibility of enhancing our renewable energy capabilities."
Chin was responding to the call by MCA president Datuk Seri Chua Soi Lek and DAP yesterday for the government to review plans for nuclear plants in the next few years.
His message puts to rest many people's unease over text and chain emails yesterday claiming Malaysia is facing possible health hazards caused by acid rain from tsunamistrucked Japan.
The messages, alleged to have originated from a news flash over the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), warned the people to take precaution from rain with radioactive particles.
They circulated all over the country quickly following a series of explosions at the Fukushima nuclear power reactors.
The messages read: "Japan Government confirms radiation leak at Fukushima nuclear plants. Asian countries should take necessary precautions. Remain indoors first 24 hours. Close doors and windows. Swab neck skin with Betadine where thyroid area is, radiation hits thyroid first. Take extra precaution, radiation may hit Philippines starting at 4pm 2day. Please send to your loved ones."
Facebook comments
Besides creating a buzz in the blogosphere, they flooded social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook.
One of the several versions of the message, posted by a Facebook user, read: "A nuclear power plant in Fukushima, Japan, exploded at 4.30am today. If it rains tomorrow or later, don't go outside. If you are outside, be sure that you have rain protectors. It's acid rain. Don't let it touch you. You may burn your skin, lose your hair or have cancer. Please pass, stay safe and remind everyone you know."
Twitter user @aveevee posted: "Is it true if the Fukushima nuclear plant explodes, a chance of having acid rain in Asia Pacific would come?"
Another user, @kozymazy, asked: "Can anyone send me link that confirmed news about the acid rain, BBC news confirmed second explosion on Fukushima nuke (nuclear) plant, but not the rain."
Some were sceptical about rumours. @CChiars asked: "How accurate is the 'Fukushima-plantexploded-don't-go-under-the-rain-or-get-cancer' thing? It's bugging me. I don't believe it much though."
Another user, @Myura, said: "Shouldn't easy believing and forwarding news — unknown source through bb (BlackBerry) message re: acid rain related to #fukushima power plant exploded."
The rumours also circulated in neighbouring countries, such as the Philippines.
However, the Philippine news agency quashed the rumours, saying "the possibility of nuclear rain is far from happening in the country".
Department of Science and Technology secretary Mario Montejo confirmed the messages were a hoax. He said he believed the leak in Fukushima was small and would not affect the Philippines.
The Malaysian Atomic Energy Licensing Board (AELB) also dismissed the rumours. The board's website posted information from its National Radiological Emergency Response Centre headquarters, saying the recorded reading of radiation level from its environmental radiation monitoring system at Senai Station in Johor from Jan 1 to yesterday was less than 0.2 uSv per hour (the limit for radiation level under the Atomic Energy Licensing Act 1984 is 0.5 uSv per hour).
The Malay Mail received several phone calls from readers asking about the possible health threat and environmental hazards as cited in the messages.
Thanks and thats all for today.
